In partnership with the Nordland county council, Bodø Biennale is hosting a two-day symposium that explores the role of art in present and future society.

The theme  Art + Social Responsibility will question the role of art in social development and whether we need artistic competence in community development. The theme has international relevance but draws on local and regional currents, in Bodø and Nordland.

The symposium will include lectures, artist presentations, conversations and debate.

The symposium requires registration and is open to all.

  • Bjørn Eirik Olsen (NO), CEO Cultural Business Development Foundation, SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge
  • Thomas Schaupp (D), dance dramaturg

The film Four Studies of Oslo and New York (2012) by artist Ane Hjort Guttu will be shown during the Symposium.

Practical info:

Language
The symposium will be held in Norwegian, with the exception of some lectures and presentations.

Registration
Registration deadline: 03.09.2018 - binding registration!
Limited number of seats.

Expenses
Course fee, including coffee and lunch both days. Price: 280 NOK

Would you like a meal before the festival opening on Thursday? We have made reservations at  OHMA Asian Cooking, Storgata 2 (opposite Stormen Library). They serve an Asian buffet from 16:30 - 18:00 hr. Price: 345 NOK. Dinner reservation is to be made simultaneously with registration for the symposium.
