AER by Malin Bülow is located outdoors at various sites during Bodø Biennale. The artist works choreographically with contemporary dancers and casted poses encapsulated in massive, elastic textiles fastened to existing structures and machines in the city. The elasticity of the textile provides a basis for movements, imprints and shapes of bodies behind the transparent textile membranes. Behind the works' seemingly simple appearance lies complex calculation and meticulous study of forces and resilience in various conditions of tension – taken to an extreme.
Bülow works site responsive and in collaboration with contemporary dancers she creates elastic, often monumental sculptures that are in constant motion. Her latest works have been shown at the Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale, Vigelandsparken, Lustwarande, Oslo Opera House and Malmö Art Museum. She is represented in the collections of the Musée d'art contemporain in Lyon (FR) and the Malmö Art Museum (SE).
